Court allows Estrada to visit ailing mother |
MANILA — A Philippine antigraft court granted permission Friday to jailed former President Joseph Estrada to visit his sick 98-year-old mother and see a doctor for back pain.
The Sandiganbayan antigraft court ruled that Estrada, 66, can temporarily leave his detention cell inside a military camp in Rizal, about 50 kilometers east of Manila, at 5 a.m. Sunday to visit his mother at her house in a San Juan suburb. Estrada is allowed to stay out of jail for up to 36 hours, it said. (Kyodo News)
